Hillwalking
Sligo is framed north and south by two mountain ranges, the Dartry mountains to the north and the Ox mountains to the south. Benbulben, Ireland's version of Table Mountain is visible from anywhere in the town and there's some great trails to choose from up there.
Knocknarea near Strandhill offers an easy adventure for all the family and there's some great views from the top. The distinctive cairn of Queen Maeve's grave is at the top - it's best not to climb it though as the rocks are loose and may fall down the cairn.
The Rosses Point Guesthouse is ideally located between the two mountains and is a great place to base yourself for a hillwalking trip. We have an OS map in the house and lots of suggestions for different day trips!
Here's a short video from Peter Martin from a trip up Knocknarea
